This is worth a look. A Code of Ethics for Journalism Nonprofits Within a few days earlier this month, Gerry Lenfest, the eighty-five-year-old owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer , announced that he would transfer ownership to a new nonprofit organization, and Chris Hughes, the thirty-two-year-old owner of The New Republic , announced that he would sell the magazine , and mentioned a change to nonprofit status as one of several plausible futures for it. Do two instances qualify as a trend? Job Opportunities for Online Personalities?

Although it’s part of what I would describe as The Deep State (in this case Amazon), still I wonder if this trend could be creating opportunities for people I know? Heads up, friends. And always take extra care to hold onto the rights to all your material across all platforms in all known galaxies. Audible has recruited well-known comedians, along with radio and podcast producers for the initiative, and job postings suggest a significant global push. Maria Bamford and Jonathan Katz are taping episodes of “Bedtime Stories,” a show in which comedians rewrite fairy tales, according to their manager Bruce Smith.

'Experience Engagement:' A pop-up think tank

Sitting people together to brainstorm and troubleshoot each others’ media-based community engagement projects was the heart of Journalism That Matters’ Experience Engagement unconference this past weekend . It was at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications’ Agora Journalism Center, here in my hometown of Portland, Oregon. At Experience Engagement, journalists, community organizers, educators, government officials and financial wizards from halfway across the globe came together for the weekend to build a pop-up think tank for groups as well as individuals working to create new media projects and community partnerships (including yours truly and “How to Be a Citizen Journalist”).
